Day 1

Cochin – Munnar

  • Arrive at Cochin airport/railway station and proceed to Munnar.

  • On arrival, check into the hotel in Munnar.

  • Spend the day at leisure and enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful hill station.

Day 2

Munnar – Local Sightseeing

  • After breakfast, visit the Eravikulam National Park to spot the Nilgiri Tahr, a rare species of goat that is only found here.

  • Learn the history and process of making tea at one of many Tea Museums in Munnar.

  • See more than 100 species of flora at the Rose Garden.

  • Post lunch visit Echo Point and Mattupetty Dam.

  • The evening will be free for leisure and shopping.

Day 3

Munnar – Thekkady

  • After breakfast, proceed to Thekkady.

Thekkady – Alleppey

  • Enjoy a boat ride in the Alleppey Backwaters. The scenic sites of lush paddy fields, coconut trees swaying, and local villages make it a unique Keralan experience.

Alleppey – Cochin – Departure

  • Vouchers: Keep printouts or offline copies of your hotel bookings, transport vouchers, and itinerary saved on your phone.

2. Clothing & Essentials

  • Munnar (Hill Station): It can get chilly in the early morning and evening—carry a light jacket, sweater, or shawl.
  • Thekkady & Kumarakom (Warm/Humid): Wear light, breathable cotton clothes for daytime travel.
  • Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers are recommended for walking around national parks, tea gardens, and spice plantations.
  • Essentials: Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat/cap, an umbrella/raincoat, insect/mosquito repellent, and a power bank.

3. Sightseeing & Activity Guidelines

  • Eravikulam National Park (Munnar): The park has strict entry slots. Stay on designated walking paths, keep noise to a minimum, and do not feed or attempt to touch the wildlife.
  • Boating & Backwaters (Kumarakom): Always wear the provided life jackets during boat trips on Vembanad Lake.
  • Shopping: Purchase spices, tea, and local handicrafts from government-approved stores or verified local markets to ensure quality.

4. Local Etiquette & Rules

  • Dress Code at Places of Interest: Dress modestly when visiting cultural sites, Fort Kochi churches, or local temples (cover shoulders and knees).
  • Photography: Ask for permission before taking photos of locals, especially during cultural events or in traditional villages.
  • No Littering / Plastic-Free: Kerala strictly enforces eco-tourism rules. Do not litter, especially in national parks, tea estates, or backwater areas.

5. Transport & Meal Notes

  • Hill Roads (Ghats): Travel between Munnar and Thekkady involves winding ghat roads. If you are prone to motion sickness, carry suitable medication.
  • Driver Rules: Driver duty hours generally end by early evening (around 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM), except for dinner transfers, per local transport guidelines.
